Mickey Sullivan
Mickey Sullivan, an all-city end at Curtis High School and MVP at North Carolina State, transformed the Wagner College football program in a meteoric stint as head coach. Sullivan, already a successful businessman, inherited a team that hadn’t won a game in two years, and in his fourth season guided the Seahawks to a 9-0 record in 1960, the first undefeated team in school history. Vernon Turner
Vernon Turner played five seasons as a National Football League wide receiver, running back and kick returner with the Bills, Rams, Lions and Buccaneers, twice finishing among the league leaders in punt and kick returns. Turner, a record-setting quarterback at Curtis High School, starred on three NAIA national championship teams at Carson-Newman College, where he ran for three scores and was named MVP in the 1988 title game.(Read more...)

Wagner College 1987 Football Team
The 1987 Wagner College football team, coached by Walt Hameline, upset Dayton 19-3 in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl to win the NCAA Division III national football championship. The Seahawks rolled through the playoffs, beating Rochester 38-14, Fordham 21-0, and Emory & Henry 20-15, before dominating the favored Flyers in the title game.(Read more...)
