When the Metropolitan Major League featured the best bowlers in the tri-state area, Dom Labargo was the ultimate team bowler, the anchor man who led the Belmont Plaza Hotel team to five straight league titles and the 1965 New York State championship. Ben McNevich, Staten Island’s undefeated match-game champion for 12 straight years, rolled nine 300 games in his career, the last when he was 68 years old.
